The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Popular Battle Royale Producer to Rescue Challenged Hero Shooter Project Ethos

2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Shift Comes After Lukewarm Feedback

The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last fall.

On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure informed employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a clearer vision.

The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Recruitment

This announcement follows a comparable action taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Hello Everyone—

I know you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the positive developments. Last time I sent you all a note, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and talented developers we have had the pleasure to collaborate with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to endure.”

Given your hard work and flexibility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.

The gamer responses from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was revealing. It validated the appeal of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a more distinct identity.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s positioned to deliver on its potential to our fans.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS increases every day. To further the incredible advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the latest Director of the team. After several months of talks, Ben starts with us on Monday, October 20.

Ben’s leadership and expertise in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and overseeing some of the most recognizable titles in the industry, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.

I invite you all in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to keep seeing the progress of the game in the months to come.

David
